1,200 Participants Come Downtown to #RideTheFort!
It was a perfect morning in downtown Fort Wayne for a bike ride, and approximately 1,200 people showed up to take part in the 2nd Annual Fort4Fitness Spring Cycle at One Summit Square on Saturday May 25, 2013.
The morning began with a trio of Tour rides, all starting together downtown and riding out into the countryside for distances of 18, 33, and 43 miles. At the same time, downtown streets were closed for a Family Kids Ride, giving kids and their parents a chance to ride through Fort Wayne.
Once those two events were complete, the Criterium Races got underway, capped off with the Category 1/2/3 professional race.
Several of the closed off streets downtown were also filled with vendors and food trucks, while live music played in One Summit Square, creating a festive atmosphere as participants and spectators enjoyed a picture perfect day in Fort Wayne.
“We are very pleased with the turnout and results of this year’s Spring Cycle,” said Jon Bomberger, Fort4Fitness Board Member and Chair of the Spring Cycle Event. “Moving the event to One Summit Square this year proved to be a great decision. People were clearly enjoying themselves and it was fantastic to see everyone out on their bikes today, working toward a more healthy lifestyle. We also want to say a big thank you to our sponsors and volunteers. This event would not be possible without their commitment and hard work.”
